Whilst it is true that Dubai is essentially a purpose-built tourist haven, people tend to forget that it is part of a country with a long and interesting history – basically meaning there’s something for everyone in and around the emirate. The region is known for offering luxury to all who visit, and though this means it is something of an exclusive market – Dubai is home to the only seven star hotel in the world – it is still well worth a visit for those that have coin to spare. Dubai is well worth exploring, and the new regions of the emirate are dazzling in both their opulence and audacity – it’s true that many people visiting the Middle East don’t expect towering skyscrapers to greet them. Dubai is world-renowned for excellent shopping, and everything a person could want is available throughout the many shopping districts – there are many bargains to be had amongst the plethora of luxury items. Those not looking to spend as much can be content in other attractions to be experienced – from Dubai Museum through to the Grand Mosque with the hundreds of eateries and cafes in between, as well as the excursions that can be undertaken to many of the ruins in and around the emirate. Throw in the interesting experience of Old Dubai, which sits juxtaposed with the flashy, lavish new town and there is a whole new layer to the experience of the emirate. Those who manage to somehow get their fill from Dubai are free to travel to the other emirates in the United Arab Emirates, and are rewarded with many differing experiences – the capital region of Abu Dhabi offers something of a respite from the flashiness of Dubai, though it isn’t far behind on the lavish stakes. Elsewhere the ‘true’ country can be encountered, with many ruins sitting alongside old towns and villages that still practice ancient traditions, such as camel herding. Many visitors to Dubai tend not to leave the confines of the emirate, and they certainly miss out as a result – the UAE as a whole is certainly a country worth a look. Dubai is a region that prides itself on providing those that visit with the very best – its combination of ostentatious wealth and genuine class combined with the experience of the world before money is an experience that shouldn’t be missed by anyone that can afford it.
